DATE AND PLACE

Coastal Dynamics 2005 will be held from the 4th to the 8th of April 2005 at the "Campus Nord" of the Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya (UPC) in Barcelona, Spain.

REGISTRATION DESK AND CONFERENCE SECRETARIAT

The Registration desk and Conference Secretariat will be located in the Auditori entrance (Vertex building):

ROOMS

The Keynote Address will take place in the Auditori (Vertex building).

The technical programme will be run in three parallel sessions (A, B and C):
  Sessions A: Building Vertex, room Auditori (Vertex)
  Sessions B: Building Vertex, room Sala d'Actes (Vertex)
  Sessions C: Building C6, room Sala d'Actes FIB

All rooms have the following equipment available for technical presentations:
  - Powerpoint presentations

  - Overhead or slides projectors
  - Video (VHS PAL European system)

Delegates that wish to present their work using a powerpoint presentation are requested to give to the Conference Secretariat a CD with their presentation during their Registration (Sunday 3rd and Monday 4th).

COMPUTER FACILITIES

Computers with internet connection will be available for conference delegates during the opening hours of the Conference Secretariat.

COFFEE BREAKS AND LUNCHES

The Conference fee includes lunch and coffee during the official breaks.
Coffee will be served at the entrance of the Auditori room of the Vertex building. You do not need tickets for the coffee breaks.
Lunches will be served at Restaurant Paradís which is 10 minutes walking from the Vertex building. Presentation of "Lunch tickets" is required. Delegates will find four lunch tickets in their personal envelope.

OTHER FACILITIES

The campus is fully equiped with photocopy services, coffe shops, banks with cash machines, travel agencies, newspapers shop and public telephones (either cash or phone card).

Meeting rooms for specific meetings or workshops can be provided upon request. Please contact the Conference Secretariat by e-mail indicating dates/schedule, number of participants, contact person and meeting purpose/subject.

BADGE

Participants and accompanying guests are kindly requested to wear their badges during all the conference, including social events.

LANGUAGE

The official language of the conference is English. All papers must therefore be written and presented in English. Authors are expected to attend the conference and present their papers themselves.

VISA AND TRAVEL DOCUMENTS

EU citizens need a valid passport or a card of identify issued by a EU state. For a 3 months beyond intended stay citizens with a valid passport issued in US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, may not need visas to enter Spain, but other delegates may need visas. All delegates are strongly advised to contact their nearest Spanish Embassy or Consulate for further information regarding visa requirements.

TRAVEL INFORMATION

The Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya is divided into different campuses. Campus nord is located at the North-western side of Diagonal Avenue.
It is recommended to use the Barcelona metro and bus systems to get quickly around the city. Reduced travel cards are available at all metro stations. Tickets must be validated when entering a metro station or a bus.

BARCELONA

Barcelona is a two thousand year old city (founded by the Romans in 27 B.C.) and the capital of Catalunya with a milenium of history. In its buildings and streets the story of its growth from ancient times is clearly written. Situated between the mountains and the sea, it is one of the most important sea-ports on the Mediterranean. A cosmopolitan city, with an intense activity, full of life with concerts, opera and theatre, exhibitions, fine restaurants, international fairs, art galleries and good shopping. GETTING TO CAMPUS NORD

By air
Although there is a wide range of flights connecting Barcelona with the main European cities, most intercontinental flights may be via a Madrid connexion - http://www.aena.es
From the El Prat Airport, connections to the city centre by bus, RENFE trains (line C1 connects the Airport to the Barcelona Sants and Plaça Catalunya railway stations) (cost 3€, 30 minutes) or cab (cost 20€, 20 minutes).
From Girona Airport, connections to Barcelona city centre by bus Sagales takes one hour.

By train
The main railway stations are BarcelonaSants (metro Sants-Estació) and Estació de França (metro Barceloneta) - http://www.renfe.es

By car
Highway A-2 that ends at the begining of the Av. Diagonal, where UPC Campus Nord and Sud are located.

By metro (underground, subway)
Line 3 (green) direction to Zona Universitària, and alight at Palau Reial or Zona Universitària stations. Line 3 also connects with Barcelona Sants railway station - http://www.tmb.net

By bus
Lines 7, 33, 54, 60, 67, 68, 74 and 75 cross the campus zone - http://www.tmb.net
